Dr. Muhammed Furkan Akıncı serves as an Assistant Professor at Boğaziçi University, where he teaches both graduate and undergraduate courses under the Department of Information Technology Law. His academic and professional pursuits are centered around intellectual property law, IT, and technology law, with a special focus on the challenges arising at the intersection of these fields. Dr. Akıncı is both a theoretical and practical contributor to the discourse in the technology sector.

Dr. Akıncı graduated from Bilkent University Faculty of Law in 2014. Throughout his undergraduate education, he engaged in a minor program in the Department of International Relations alongside his law studies and successfully completed it. In September of the year he graduated, Dr. Akıncı commenced the LL.M. program in Intellectual Property and Information Law at King's College London in the U.K. During this period, he focused his research on the use of open source software in administrative institutions within the European Union through his thesis titled "Analysis of the place of FOSS environment in the European public administrations with emphasis on policies of the European Commission," graduating with a Distinction grade.

Following his completion of a legal internship at the Istanbul Bar Association, Dr. Akıncı was accepted into a Ph.D. program at King's College London in 2016. He defended his thesis, "The Extent of Harmonization for Co-Authored Works under EU Copyright Law," in 2022 under the guidance of Prof. Tanya Aplin and Prof. John Phillips. His doctoral research explored the complexities of authorship in multi-authored works within the EU, focusing on the legal frameworks of Germany, France, the UK, and Ireland, and aimed to address the regulatory approach to such works in the context of EU copyright law harmonization.

Concurrently, from 2019 to 2023, he was employed as a Legal Engineer at New Mind Information Technologies, where he was involved in project design, management, and the development of legal software (legal tech). Between 2023 and 2024, he offered legal consultancy services in corporate law, IT and technology law, among other areas, at DLC Law Firm.,
